Application of strategic planning as a tool for the socio-economic development of the municipality

Abstract
The article discusses the methodological and theoretical methods of strategic planning of development of territories on the example of the municipality-urban district of the city of Stavropol. The paper presents an overview of publications on the research topic. The characteristics of the socio-economic development of the considered municipality are given, the main development programs implemented on the spot are analyzed. Author’s study of the problem of mechanisms and main tools of the Strategy for the socio-economic development of the city of Stavropol. As a result, the application of the method of the program-target method of planning and management in the municipality is proposed and, as a result, the improvement of this method by highlighting the process and design parts.
