ERADICATION OF ILLITERACY AND MODERNIZATION OF GENERAL SECONDARY EDUCATION IN CHINA AT THE TURN OF THE CENTURY

Abstract

The paper deals with gradual eradication of illiteracy among young people, planning and control of its measures are analyzed. The author describes establishing the system of nine-year compulsory education nationwide and transition to the all-round education, which based on individual peculiarities of students. The difficulties in organization of education in rural areas and the problem of national minorities ' education are identified.
