Assessment of the role and importance of innovations in the development of domestic industry: federal and regional aspects

Abstract
The modern economic model corresponds to the post-industrial way of economic development and is conditioned by increasing competition in the world market, as well as changes taking place in the political arena. At the same time, a prerequisite for the progressive development of the domestic production complex is the growth of the innovative potential of the country. The development of the innovative sector of the economy is a key driver in this process, as it allows developing effective principles of balanced specialization, reducing existing inequalities in the development of regions and thereby contributing to the reduction of tensions in Russian society. The paper presents theoretical approaches and provisions to the study of innovation, innovation processes and innovation activity. The analysis of the activities of the leading innovative spheres, industries and enterprises of the region is carried out. Rating indicators of innovative development of the district are presented. The measures of further development of the industrial complex of the region are proposed and justified.
